EMA NEWSLETTER – WINTER ISSUE – 2023
EMA publishes details of its current activities in an occasional Newsletter. Its Press Releases will continue to focus on individual announcements and events.
EMA -A dynamic and forward-looking organisation to stimulate innovative thinking in European museums
A Word from the Board
A new year and new opportunities! That is what we hope is the spirit among museums in Europe. We have received reports from our representatives in many countries. They confirm that 2022 was a year where visitors were back and almost on the pre-pandemic level. For the European Museum Academy last year was also almost normal and it was great to have analogue meetings, seminars, award ceremony, conference and educational activities again.
Unfortunately, we also see that the ongoing war in Ukraine has had an impact on the activities in Europe. This war is an issue we are observing with deepest concern. It is so good to see that many museums have been and are still active in supporting and helping their peers in Ukraine by securing safe storage for collections and general support for staff. Let us hope that the war will soon come to an end, and staff and the public can enjoy the museums again.
Finally: It is award competition season! We are inviting candidates for the different museum awards. Who knows? Maybe you are the winner!
