Established in 1875 and officially opened in 1893, the City Museum of Rijeka is a prominent cultural institution located in the Governor’s Palace park. Originating as the Museum of the People’s Revolution in 1961, it was renamed in 1994 and relocated to a purpose-built modernist building designed by architect Neven Šegvić. The museum offers a comprehensive look at Rijeka’s rich history and culture, featuring extensive collections in art, photography, numismatics, and documentary materials. Its notable exhibitions include “Rijeka’s Bridges,” “Rijeka’s Park Heritage,” and “Rijeka’s Torpedo: The First in the World,” among others, highlighting the city’s industrial and cultural milestones as well as its influential figures.
