CALL FOR THE EMA AWARDS 2025

The European Museum Academy fosters the exchange of ideas and experiences between museum professionals across borders.
The EMA Awards fulfil a signal function. They say: “Look at these museums. See what they realised and learn from their experiences. Because, what they achieved may help you too.”
We show the innovators, the frontrunners, the museums that are worth visiting, the projects and exhibitions that inspire.
Each year, the European Museum Academy acknowledges individuals and organisations that excel in presenting, contextualising, and interpreting art and cultural heritage. Our annual award ceremony puts them on stage.
Closing date is 1 March 2025

EMA SITUATION FOR MUSEUMS IN EUROPE REPORT 2024
How are museums doing in Europe?
The European Museum Academy Reports on The Museum Temperature by the end of 2024.
The European Museum Academy is proud to present for the seventh year in a row the following more subjective inside views about how museums are doing and what the museums’ current challenges are, be it political, financial, in legislation,
organisational or something else.
We all think we know something about how museums are doing in our own country,
and we know that we can find statistical information produced for specific research
projects and in continuous statistical series from our governments, the European
Union, the Council of Europe and even UNESCO.
But what is going on beneath the numbers? Politically? Financially? Museologically? We would like to thank all our dedicated representatives across Europe who make it possible for our independent network to present this report.
Enjoy reading it!
EDUCATION
IULM Master course: Museology and New Media and Museum Communication (On Line)
Our Master’s course has a unique approach to museology in its most innovative form, especially at a European level. It is carried out in collaboration with the European Museum Academy Foundation (NL) which contributes with its experts and educational resources. Articulated e-learning is the key point: the online modules also offer students abroad the opportunity to take part in this course under careful tutoring. The programme is designed for those interested in acquiring skills in contemporary museology and the interconnections between museum and heritage, as well as in new media and museum communication.
