Sybir Memorial Museum, Poland
The Sybir Memorial Museum in Białystok documents the experiences of people deported to Siberia and Soviet territories. The museum, located in a former military warehouse, uses artifacts, testimonies, and multimedia displays to tell the stories of deportees.

The Sybir Memorial Museum in Białystok is the only institution in Poland—and possibly the world—entirely devoted to documenting the experiences of people deported to Siberia and Soviet territories from the late 18th century through the 20th century. Located in a former military warehouse adjacent to the historic Poleski Railway Station, where deportations took place in 1940-1941 and 1944, the museum preserves the dramatic stories of Polish and multinational citizens forced into harsh exile. An original Russian freight car used for deportations serves as the symbolic entrance to the exhibition.
The museum combines historical artifacts, personal testimonies, and multimedia displays to reveal both the ordinary objects hiding dramatic emotions and the almost inhuman survival strength of deportees. Run independently, the museum prioritizes education and accessibility, offering guided tours, educational programmes, and workshops. A distinctive steel forest installation outside symbolizes both lost lives and the frozen vastness of Siberia. The museum ensures these stories of displacement, resilience, and hope are preserved for future generations.
