Istanbul Cinema Museum
The İstanbul Cinema Museum, housed in the historic Atlas Cinema on Beyoğlu’s Culture Route, explores the history of Turkish film through original artifacts, interactive digital archives, and a thoughtfully restored 19th-century setting.

The İstanbul Cinema Museum, located within the Atlas Cinema on Beyoğlu’s Culture Route, offers a rich exploration of Turkish cinema and its significance in the nation’s cultural history. Established during the 2019 restoration of the site, the museum was conceived as a space to document and interpret Istanbul’s long relationship with film, from the golden era of Yeşilçam to the present day.
Spread across three floors, the museum features both permanent and temporary exhibitions that highlight key aspects of Turkish film heritage. Visitors can view wax figures of celebrated actors, personal belongings of influential directors, and a wide collection of original film posters that illustrate the development of the country’s cinematic tradition. A central feature of the museum is its digital memory pool, an interactive archive that brings together detailed information about films, directors, screenwriters, and other figures in the industry, creating new ways to experience and understand cinema history.
Through its thoughtful use of archival material, technology, and interpretation, the İstanbul Cinema Museum offers a space to reflect on how film has contributed to shaping Istanbul’s cultural identity and creative landscape.
