The Işbank Museum of Paintings-Sculpture, opened on October 29, 2023, celebrates Turkey’s 100th Republic Anniversary and houses one of the country’s largest and richest art collections. Located in a beautifully restored historic building on İstiklal Avenue in Beyoğlu, the museum preserves Turkey’s artistic heritage within a structure built in the early 1900s that previously served as İşbank’s branch office.
The collection, initiated in 1939 with three paintings from the State Painting and Sculpture Exhibition, has grown to over 2,700 artworks spanning various periods and styles. Approximately 600 carefully curated pieces are displayed, featuring master painters including Osman Hamdi Bey, Şeker Ahmet Paşa, Hoca Ali Rıza, and İbrahim Çallı, representing Turkish art history from the Republican period onwards. The museum showcases paintings, sculptures, and contemporary works across multiple floors in a fully equipped cultural facility featuring modern amenities including a café and rooftop restaurant. The building’s restoration exemplifies contemporary cultural preservation, providing an elegant setting for experiencing Turkish artistic legacy while contributing to the vibrant cultural landscape of Istanbul’s iconic Beyoğlu district.
