On Friday 25 September 2026, in a ceremony during the European Museum Academy meeting in Alicante, Spain, the results of the 2026 Children in Museums Award were announced. Fifteen museums took part in the competition from eleven countries, with five museums listed as finalists. This is the fifteenth year the Award has been presented.
We are excited to announce House of Stories (Paris, France) as the winner of the Children in Museums Award for its exceptional screen-free, self-sustaining literary ecosystem that sparks early childhood literacy and deepens parent–child bonds without public funding. ALICE – Children’s Museum (Berlin, Germany) received a Special Commendation alongside Green Planet Berlin for empowering children as active thinkers and tackling complex social issues with empathy and hope. We also celebrate our incredible finalists: Technopolis (Mechelen, Belgium) for its playful, embodied learning experiences; Cricoteka (Kraków, Poland) for pushing regional boundaries with innovative initiatives like Wild Frolics; and POLIN Museum (Warsaw, Poland) for its inspiring, crisis-responsive leadership in supporting displaced communities.
