The Museum of the Olive celebrates its 25th anniversary with an international conference organized in cooperation with the European Museum Academy on November 10th,2017.
The Museum of the Olive (Museo dell’Olivo) of Imperia, the Italian town famous with its olive oil heritage, has organized a series of events to celebrate its 25th anniversary. The conference that will take place on the 10th of November is organized in cooperation with the European Museum Academy. EMA acts as a scientific body giving advice to identify interesting study cases.
The Chairman of the Board of EMA, historian Dr. Wim van der Weiden (creator of Naturalis in Leiden) and a member of the EMA Pool of Experts, archaeologist Dr. Elia Vlachou (who created two olive oil museums in Greece) participate in the conference.
To celebrate its 25 years the Museum has planned an international forum, the naming after its founder member and the restyling of a room.
An international forum organized in collaboration with the Special Company PromImperia of the Board of Trade Riviere di Liguria, in the occasion of the XVII edition of OlioOliva, will recall important museum institutions of the Mediterranean dedicated to the olive tree.
The Museum will be named after its founder member, the Knight of Industry (Cavaliere del Lavoro) Carlo Carli, recently passed away, and a room totally revisited, will host two of the most symbolic pieces of the collection.
This Museums hosts the most complete and wide collection of archaeological finds in Italy, objects and tools connected to the world of the olive tree and to the olive oil, from the ancient times to nowadays. It will be named Carlo Carli Olive Tree Museum.
November 10th , in the conference room of the Olive Tree Museum, it will be held “The culture of the olive tree, the culture of the Mediterranean”. The first Forum of the museum of the olive tree of the Mediterranean, will host the main museum of those countries that raise themselves on the Mare Nostrum and they will compare their own experiences.
At the end of the meeting , the first Paper of the Olive Tree Museum of the Mediterranean will be signed, with the target to promote the culture of the olive tree in Europe and worldwide on the basis of international best practices.
The Forum is organised by Fratelli Carli together with the Board of Trade Riviere di Liguria – special company PromImperia, with the sponsorship of Re CO.Med – the net of the cities of the Mediterrnean Olive Oil and COI – International Olive Council. Beyond the Olive Tree Museum of Imperia, other 5 museum from Spain, Greece, Tunisia and Croatia will participate.
The Forum has already registered the subscription to Mipaaf, the board of agricultural, alimentary and forestry politics and the one of cultural and touristic goods. The participation of Italian Minister Andrea Olivero has already been announced and we are waiting for the confirmation of Italian Minister of Cultural Heritage,Dario Franceschini.
