How did European museums do in 2019? An Analytical Summary

As the world is going through the COVID-19 pandemic, many of the museums in Europe and all over the world are closed. However, museums explore new ways to keep in touch with their visitors. We presume, this same report for the year 2020 will be either very interesting or dull for the first 6 months of 2020. While we fulfill our responsibility to society and self-quarantine ourselves, we present our second annual national reports to your interest.

The national reports are produced by our network of representatives of the EMA and is a good supplement to the statistic collected by other bodies – national and European. Our reports highlight how politics and economics influence the perceived situation seen from bottom up. The reports also include trend mapping in museological development. A short analytical summary is written by Dr Emek Yilmaz and Dr Henrik Zipsane.
